  7. June 13., 1994. ITU-TSS approved the V.34 standard.
  8. Rockwell is currently working on the new roms for the V.FAST modems
  9. and the upgrades will be available soon.
  10.  
  11. Microcom have set their release date for their V.34 upgrade roms, to
  12. be within 6 weeks from now. (date is for V.FAST Class modems upgrades)
  13.  
  14. Technical notes for Amiga users.
  15.  
  16. V.34 modems will be running at 115200 Baud, and this is not currently
  17. supported on the Amiga (internal serial port).
  18. But it's all because of the speed of the OS.
  19. Hardware based serial programs shows that it's not a limit. And
  20. those buyers of 28.8K modems do not HAVE TO initialize their modems
  21. at 115200. If you set your modem program to 57.600 Baud, the speed
  22.  performance is still in top.
  23. The average speed on V.FAST modems are 3300 CPS with compressed files.
  24. Because of this you have no need of changing to higher baudrates unless
  25. you need to transfer uncompressed files, like textfiles, which will
  26. increase the speed to approx. 8000 CPS.
  27. The approved V.34 standard will increase the speed limit, and also
  28. set the new standard for connecting with modems of another brand,
  29. but still no need (with compressed data), to initialize on 115200 Baud.

  76. This package includes a BETA version of a v34serial.device, which
  77. is much faster in handling data, at higher speeds, but still in
  78. beta testing as, the 115200 baud rates gives problems on 
  79. 68000 processsors.

  82.  Ncomm / Terminus.
